William L. Thompson DDS, MD
Dr. William L. Thompson is a board-certified member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS), a doctor of dental surgery, and a medical doctor. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Thompson is the owner of iCare Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center in Commerce, Michigan. The practice focuses on conducting oral surgery, including the placement of dental implants.
Dr. Thompson has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Eastern Michigan University. He graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry with his DDS, and conducted his residency at St. John Health/University of Detroit Mercy Department of Advance General Dentistry. Dr. Thompson then went on to Wayne State University School of Medicine to earn his medical degree, and completed his MD residency in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at St. John Providence Health System in Macomb, MI.
Dr. Thompson proudly earned a scholarship from Pierre Fauchard Academy (an international honor dental organization that recognizes outstanding members of the dental profession throughout the world) for student leadership in dentistry and an academy award for student leadership in the student mentoring program. He became a Pierre Fauchard Academy Inductee in 2016. Other awards and honors include a St. John Providence Health Resident Research Award, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Horace Wells Award, and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry Student Research Award.
Long invested in his Michigan community, Dr. Thompson is a council member of the Oakland County Dental Society. He spent two years in the country of Colombia on a Healing the Children Cleft Palate Mission, and also served in a medical mission to Honduras for the Christian Medical Dental Association. He worked as a fellow for the Pierre Fauchard Academy non-profit dental organization at the Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay, Michigan.
A lifetime Michigan resident, Dr. Thompson was raised on a cattle farm in Blissfield. He now lives in Royal Oak with his wife and four sons.
